Bailey's First Birthday - Part 1

Bailey could not have had a better first birthday. Mor Mor, Bumpa, Auntie Anna, Cousins Grace and Jack, Nana, Granddad, and Uncle Tim all made the long trek to Arkansas to celebrate with her. I took a couple hundred pictures (don't worry I won't post them all), so there will be several parts so you can capture the entire week and a half of celebration.
Mor Mor, Bumpa, Anna, Grace, and Jack arrived first. Here is Bailey showing Mor Mor her prized possession blankie.
Catching a little TV with Bumpa before bedtime.
Hangin' with Auntie Anna.
Cousin Gracie was so excited for Bailey to open her presents that Bailey got to open a couple early. Here Grace is helping her open one from Mor Mor and Bumpa...
...and Bailey put it on and modeled it right away. It was an adorable outfit with flip flops on the front and a cute little skirt. If you know Mor Mor, she loves her flip flops.
Story time with Cousin Jack Jack.
"See!"
"I got an idea," says Jack, "let's take this story to the tub. We both need a bath after all the running around we did today."
Then Cousin Gracie gave Bailey her bottle before bed.
Opening a gift from the Peterson's...
..a pop-up house with two tunnels. Awesome!
"What are you doing in my house, Daddy?"
"I'm coming in there with you, but I need my binky."
"Hi."
Bailey and Mommy a little before cake time.
"It's my party and I'll cry if I want to!"
But not for long! Cousin Gracie to the rescue with a bottle!
Stay tuned. More birthday celebration coming your way!

One Year Stats

Bailey had her one year check-up this morning. Unfortunately, she had to get four shots, but she handled them like a champ. Those little thunder thighs of hers provided lots of padding. Here are her one year stats:
Weight: 23lbs. (80th percentile)
Height: 28.75in (39th percentile)
Head Circumference: 44.6cm (36th percentile)

"Roady" and Landscaping

Our friend Matt Roadfeldt (aka "Roady") happened to be in town from Minnesota for some training for work. Roady and Andy used to coach hockey together. We were happy that he was able to stop by for dinner and hang out for awhile.
"Roady, can I please have a bite of your steak?"

On another note, we have started some landscaping at our house. Bailey is definitely keeping everyone on task.
"Mommy, they aren't going to back that thing into the house, are they?"
"Wait," says Smashy, "you're digging up my potty spots!"

We will definitely post more "before and after" pictures once everything is complete! Stay tuned.

Alfalfa

"Seriously Mom and Dad. This styling my hair thing is getting a little embarrassing."

We think our little Bailey Alfalfa is much cuter than the one from The Little Rascals. Don't you think?

Awesomeness

Super-sweet faux hawk, Bailey!
Mommy, can we shave the sides off
and go full-on mohawk?
No?

Battle of Pea Ridge

I'm sure everyone had heard of the Battle of Pea Ridge - a famous Battle during the Civil War. Pea Ridge, Arkansas is very near where we live and we decided to check out one of the National Military Parks last weekend. This park has a scenic seven mile bike trail with different historical stops along the way. Below are a few pictures of our journey.
Bailey is ready to go to battle!
Off we go!
Biking in front of some old cannons.

We stopped at one of the scenic overlooks for a snack break...
...but Bailey wanted to take hers to go!
Time for a family photo in front of the old Elkhorn Tavern which was described as a place of "abundant good cheer".

Getting Into Everything

Yes, little Miss Bailey is really getting into everything these days. Here are a few pics of her making her way through some of the cabinets and drawers in the kitchen.
There must be something about kids and Tupperware.

"Yep, this lid will fit."
"Here Smashy, you can have this one."
"Hmm, what do we have in here?"
"Yes! My snack drawer! Jackpot!"

Tanyard Creek Nature Trail

Last Sunday we went to a really neat Nature Trail by us called Tanyard Creek to get a little exercise. Andy strapped Bailey to his back and off we went!

Aren't they cute?

Time for a little rest by the lake before heading back down. Andy said that it was quite the workout when you have an extra 22 pounds strapped to your back. Yes, Bailey is slightly over 22 pounds now!
Neat rock formations.
Making our way across the suspension bridge.
Towards the end of the hike I noticed this little head bobbing around and Boo Boo was out cold.
